HAS ANYBODY ELSE NOTICED CERTAIN SCENES MISSING FROM BILLY ELLIOT ?

Just hired this movie out from my local video store, first time I have seen it... I thought that it was great. It really captured life the way it was in Durham in the early 80`s, I was about Billy`s age when the minors strike was in full swing and I can tell you that this movie captured the atmosphere totaly!
Back to the DVD in question, the picture quality was okay (only a few blemishes here and there) the sound was fine too. But the extras where a little on the poor side (I was really hoping for a commentry by the director) and as for the making of Billy Elliot, it was obviously aimed at the US market etc. While it was entertaining, I did notice some scenes that never made it into the main movie...
A scene where Billy is playing with the football that he takes to the Ballet lesson and several snippets of aditional dialogue that are not present.
I then checked the net for running times on all the region`s and found that the running time in the US was an extra 6 mins (I know about the NTSC / PAL Time differences, so don`t go on about that issue) so I put it down to this. BUT I also checked the running time on R2, it was 110 mins. But the actual running time was 105mins. 5 mins missing !! Was this a BBFC decision, the directors, distributers etc. Why is this DVD release shorter than the cinema release?
Check it out and tell me what you think

That being said, it`s a great movie which I thoroughly enjoyed. But if any other region has those extra scenes included, I will buy from them.

KEEP DANCING!
