Page 1 of Problem playing THE PATRIOT (R2) on an ALBA 103 DVD player

I bought an Alba 103 dvd player from Toys R Us and was fairly happy with it as a multi-region entry level player.

However it will not play the newly released R2 version of The Patriot, instead it stays in the menu screen.

Has anyone else had this problem and overcome it ?

I know there was/is a Menu problem with the Alba`s when first released and you cannot start them in R1 or R2 mode so there are some problems with some discs - you cant play RCE discs because of this.
Does anyone know if this has been corrected in the new batch of players currently on sale in Toys R Us ?

to be honest mate, id get rid of your player and buy a better one.
i had an alba 103 for a couple months and whilst it was `adequate`, i experienced many problems with it. first of all some R1 discs wouldnt work properly. for example i got T2: ultimate edit which wouldnt play the special edition properly. even some R2 discs didnt function properly such as Go! and MIB and its well known that sometimes columbia/ tri-star discs have difficulty functioning on it. i got to the stage that whenever i bought a disc i was worrying that it wouldnt work on my dvd player. i also noticed on some `dark` films ie, x-files season 1, the matrix and aliens the picure when black distorted to a `grainy green` colour.....

A mate of mine had the same problem with THE PATRlOT on his Alba 103 and tok it back twice. lt just wouldnt play properly.

l must agree with, elepahant stone, you should get another dvd player as another mate of mine had the same player. He said it paused a lot, and took it back.

do me a favour and try this out put the disk in the player and press>PLAY/RESUME/PLAY.
and see if the film plays let us know .
