Die Hard - Collection

Dave 1 (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Sunday, 11th April 2004, 10:44

This trilogy has got to be one of my favourites of all time and I just wondered whether any of you know whether they are going to release a collection of all three films like the region 1 release. I know that they do a collection of the four but they are not the special editions or THX certified. Do any of you know?

R2 UK - Die Hard (Double Pack) contains Die Hard and Die Hard 2: Die Harder, but it`s a limited edition so eBay or trading forums would be your best bet. Each film comes on 2 discs, with an assortment of extras and great picture + sound (they both have DTS, I think, or at least the first film does).

R2 UK - Die Hard with a Vengeance was re-released by Buena Vista as a 2-disc collector`s edition a couple of years ago, and it`s a very good package indeed. This should be readily available.

Search this site (use the box on the left) for my reviews of both...

I know about these two, I just wondered whether anyone knew whether they are going to do a release of the trilogy boxset like the region 1 one. I would buy that version but by DVD/Cinema system is R2

No is the short answer. The UK distribution rights for the first two films are owned by Twentieth Century Fox, but the rights to the third film are owned by Buena Vista - therefore they will only be released as they have been, unless one of the companies buys the UK distribution rights off the other.

In the US the rights are exclusively held by Twentieth Century Fox.

You should note that the R2 of Die Hard With a Vengeance is cut and therefore the R1 is the better route.

There is a Trilogy boxset of Die Hard on R2, but they`re just the single disc releases. It`s not impossible to expect a 6 disc boxset including all three films in the near future. Anchor Bay did it with the Evil Dead Trilogy.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, no matter how wrong it is ;-)

Good point Chewie, although I doubt that will ever happen. If the fourth film does indeed go ahead as planned, there is a chance that a Die Hard `Quadrilogy` will appear at some point.
