LOTR Two Towers Q`s from a DVD newbie

Kezz (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Saturday, 27th December 2003, 02:40

1) Does the extended edition include the original version of the film as well or just the extended version?

2) In the 2 DVD version (is it called the theatrical version?) How many discs is the film spread over?

3) I`m not usually into behind the scenes stuff (cos it spoils it for me, kinda) Is it still worth buying the extended edition?

Thanks.

(1) No - "just" the extended edition
(2) 2
(3) Hell yes - the extra scenes (40 minutes or so) are worth it for the ful experience

1) No, you don`t get the original version of the film on the EE.

2) In the theatrical version the film is on one disc, the second disc containing extra features etc. Note that these are different from those on the EE.

3) Yes, the film is much better paced, apart from anything else. Some of the behind the scenes stuff is really interesting though, particularly the one on Gollum/Smeagol.

It has been available at £17.99 from DVD.co.uk for a while - well worth it!

...and if you don`t have the first film, this has been spotted in extended form for £15.99.

EDIT - clayts - re 2 - I`m sure the theatrical edition has the film on just one disc????

Sorry, yes, you`re right - misread the queston : 4 disc set - film over 2 discs, 2 disc set - film on one disc :/

Also, the Picture quality and Sound (apart from the infamous Pops and Bangs) is better on the Extended Edition - by the very nature of spreading the film over 2 discs they have increased the bitrate.

Not just that - they also included an excellent DTS soundtrack on the EE, which is absent from the TC.
