From digital bits

MGM is working on a new special edition of Sergio Leone`s The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, which will include a new anamorphic widescreen transfer. With any luck, they`ll do Fistfull of Dollars, For a Few Dollars More and A Fistful of Dynamite as well.

Anchor Bay looks ready to bow a new Divimax special edition of Terry Gilliam`s Time Bandits on DVD on January 27th. The title hasn`t officially been announced yet, but you can already pre-order it on Amazon.

Hmmmm, I`m not going to bother buying anymore dvds, until they finally release a ultimate super delux special collectors 1.5 redux editons with extra two frames of never before seen footage. Then I might consider buying dvds again.

The boy has a good point.

I always get sucked in to buying everything right away, but thats my problem.
I hate it that there`s a new Alien superbitch vesrsion, I spent £60 on the last one thinking that was it.

When `vanilla` titles with little or no extras, especially on new releases and minor major titles like the `Dollars` trilogy, just stick with your VHS and wait, you can be a sure a special edition is on the way some time!

I always suspected the `Alien` titles would be coming out again, as the original discs were so bare of extras - the only one worth having was Alien, which as it turns out still has lots of stuff not on the Quadrilogy. What is more annoying is, say, the Time Bandits example, where an already special edition is possibly superceded.

more news from Digital News

It is rumoured that there will be another Godfather DVD out next year, but it will ONLY be the first film, as a single-disc release.

This will be basically the same disc that`s currently in The Godfather DVD Collection, with the Coppola audio commentary.

The only difference will be that the film`s digital video file is being given an additional clean-up pass by Lowrey Digital.

In an additional bit of Paramount info, we`ve confirmed that a special edition box set of all the Friday the 13th films is definitely in production, with bonus materials currently being assembled. No release date is set at the moment. (hopefully they will all be uncut)

The worst cuprit at the moment HAS to be Reloaded.

If a film ever screamed `WAIT FOR THE BOX SET` this was it.
