Soldier Blue on DVD ever?

As far as I am aware Soldier Blue has never been released on DVD anywhere. Anyone know why that is?

Soldier Blue is available in PAL R2 from France and Greece. I have the Greek version, it is a Canal + release through a Greek distributor. The dvd is letterboxed at 2.35:1, and has forced greek subs, although they are mostly eliminated when zooming in on a 16:9 set. The extras are limited to biogs of the stars and trailers for other releases, including the Elephant man and the Emerald forest. Sound is Mono, and the picture quality is very good, although there are a couple of examples of minor print damage. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info. I have found out that there is a German DVD available in German language only (dubbed) running 109 minutes. Please advise on how many minutes the French/Greek version runs.

The Greek version (according to the box) runs 110 mins. The Greek disc is distributed and/or manufactured by Audio Visual Enterprises, their web address is also on the box:www.audiovisual.gr. You may be able to purchase the dvd from there.

If its a Canal+ title,it would be a good one for Anchor Bay USA to release.Any UK version would most likely be cut

The UK version would definitely be cut for horse-falls, as animal cruelty requires compulsory cuts by law. Also, during the climax there are scenes of sexual violence which may prove problematic, similar material has been cut from death wish 2.

The Canal+ version is cut. The complete version is approx. 115 minutes. Actually the most complete version ever shown was the UK Cinema version. See link below.

I`m fairly sure that the Canal + version may be uncut, as it features all of the footage of the rape of the Indian woman which is graphic and features full frontal nudity. The differences in running times (4-5mins) could indicate a pal/ntsc variation.

According to cutlassvideo.com the uncut running time on the pre-cert UK video is 109 minutes. The Greek DVD runs 110m:08s approx. The Dutch video version is uncut, but the french video by TFI is the cut version.

The TF1 and Canal+ versions appear to be one and the same. See.....

All videos/DVD`s appear be be around 109 minutes. I doubt if the conversion would explain over 5 minutes difference.

So what exactly is missing? If it is footage from the rape of the indian woman (which is already graphic), then the scene may be on par with the maid rape Death Wish 2 in terms of sheer brutality.
