I have noticed that the backgrounds and character outlines appear kind-of wavey/wobbley on my region 1 edition of The Simpsons, complete first series. Is this a result of my player/telly converting NTSC to PAL or is it down to the age of the material ?

I think its the result of low budget animation, until it was a huge sucess, and they decided to improve the animation in a huge way, by the time the third season came out.
