Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy

I`ve found a US site that offers Tinker Tailor... on dvd - see
http://www.acornonline.com/productdetail.aspx?&DID=6&Product_ID=1206

Is this a decent transfer to dvd?

And has anyone bought anything from acorn? I`m a bit suspicious that their products only seem to be available direct from that company.

They also have a UK branch, but they told me Tinker isn`t available on R2 and nor do they have plans to release it.

Yes, the quality is good. Our local library has a copy that I have seen on video and DVD and it is region 1 professional quality. I`d like to get the set myself but the $70 price tag from acorn is a bit much. But thanks for finding it there, none of the major DVD distributors seem to carry it.

Cuba,

AFAIK, only Tinker Tailor is avail on R2, not Smiley`s People. $112 USD seems a bit steep to pay for this when R2: Tinker Tailor is only £12.99 at Play. Perhaps Smiley`s People will get a release sometime next year and Acorn have no idea what it`s talking about?

I reviewed a finished R2 DVD here. I got this from my local library. Video quality is grainy but passable.

Tinker Tailor at Play.

Smiley`s People at Movies Unlimited costs a whopping $62.99 here.

HTH

Thanks for the reply, but... my original post was last November, and since then Tinker was released on R2 by BBC Worldwide, and I`m now a proud owner...

BBC are still not listing a release date for Smiley`s - I guess it depends on how many of us buy Tinker.
