Yep, Hong Kong Legends have put out some excellent dvds.
Check these out: • New Dragon Gate Inn • The Once Upon a Time in China series (slightly overrated though) • Prodigal Son • Snake in the Eagles Shadow • Drunken Master • Police Story 1 and 2 - though not the same genre
If you have a multi-region player try and get: • Legend of Drunken Master (Drunken Master 2) • Fist of Legend • Shaolin Soccer

If you liked Iron Monkey then try out Zu: warriors of the magic kingdom, that was the film that inspired a million films including big trouble in little china, crouching tiger hidden dragon etc. the DVD is packed with special features as well.

Also Korea have some great action films as well....
While I agree with many of skirpy`s suggestions sadly the dvds many of these films are on are way below par - i.e. not in widescreen, non-anamorphic, dubbed soundtracks, no extras... we live in hope that a company like HKL can get their hands on some of them.
P.S. Skirpy, where did you get Versus from and what`s the dvd quality like? (Widescreen, anamorphic, original soundtrack?)

Hello handsome.b.wonderful, i bought my Versus from...
The film is in Widescreen and Letterbox and has a very good picture but not perfect.....there is some grain to be seen in some scenes but its hardly noticable.
The sound is only DD2.0 but is very crisp and clear and sounds better than a lot of DD5.1 tracks i have heard.
I have used this site many times and there delivery is usually 3-5 days if in stock.
I agree with you on the quality of some of the older films available......it would be great to have Chinese Ghost story cleaned up with a good DD soundtrack.
This is one of my favourite films and was the one that got me into asian movies.

Can you narrow it down, what I like particularly about Iron Monkey is the `fast` tongue in cheek Kung Fu and the period setting (though period setting not so important.
I can`t afford to buy more than 2 or 3 discs....
Zu Warriors looks good, and only £8.99 at Play, though out of stock, what are the `Once Upon A Time in China` films (1 to 3) like by the same director? I notice the triology box set is out on 11 November, £24.99 at play....
What is `Legend of ZU` seen this on Region 0 from a Hong Kong site...

Thanks Skirpy, I`ll give these guys a go. Have you noticed that the Versus cover is a homage (i.e. rip-off) to Devil May Cry on PS2?
Also, have you heard of a Korean film called Volcano High - it`s been getting great reviews from a lot of the recent film festivals, definitely one to keep an eye out for. And the early reviews for Hero have been very positive.
