have recently returned faulty acoustic solutions dvd to Richer Sounds - refunded no bother.
RS advertise a multi region pioneer dv340/343 for £149.99
and a multi region toshiba sd210e for £199.95

have read in some of the postings that the pioneer can be noisy - any confirmation of this ?

Would appreciate any alternative recommendations.

I am not a big expert on dvd`s buit i have done some reading and personally i think that the toshiba sd210e is probably the better dvd player. it plays cd-r, cd-rw, mp3, svcd, vcd, cd and is multiregion. It is also meant to have excellent picture and sound quality and toshiba is known for good quality in tv`s. Go for the toshiba 210e. Try the link, it has more details and is £189

I thought it was the tosh that was sometimes noisy. I`d say try the hardware forum for this discussion - likely to get a better response (plus also try the search - these players have been discussed at length before)

Hi Dayers, I recomend looking at www.techtronics.com if nothing else they have very detailed descriptions of region hacking DVD players and info on RCE (region Code enhanced). I have a mate who did some research and bought a multi region DVD player only to find out it wouldnt play RCE titles.

Prices arent bad at Techtronics either. Pioneer, Panasonic, Toshiba, Sony is all good stuff.
