Panasonic FZ7 6 Mpix, 12xOptical zoom, OIS £164.49

The 6.0-megapixel DMCFZ7 has an Optical Image Stabilizer that compensates hand-shake. It also incorporates a 12x optical zoom (equivalent to 36mm to 432mm on a 35mm film camera) LEICA DC lens.

The FZ7 is compact and easy to carry while preserving the same powerful zoom capability and manual controllability of it`s larger bulkier counterparts.

12X image stabilized zoom
2.5" LCD
22 Scene and shooting modes
Automatic, semi-automatic & manual control
High speed focus mode
ISO 800 and 1600 options
VGA videos
16:9 video mode

It looks like the FZ8 will cost around £100 more; unless that price comes down substantially I can`t see it pushing the FZ7 price down much more but I guess it depends on how much stock of the FZ7 retailers have and how quickly they want to shift it.

The FZ8 is due out this month, surprisingly there doesn`t seem to be any major reviews of it. There are some sample pics from a pre-production model here

Beyond the extra megapixel and the RAW capability I can`t see much new or exciting.

Thanks for the link sjy. The FZ8 does sound like a worthwhile upgrade to the FZ7 if you keep the ISO low or shoot RAW.

I`d love to see a camera with the high ISO capabilities of the Fuji cameras and the image stabilisation of the Panasonics.
