Second DVD or cheap starter (Tosh SD100E)

Check out the DVD Players auction for a cheap DVD player currently at about £48! The seller makes no bones about why they are cheap:

**These DVD Players are slight seconds but come with a full 12month Toshiba warranty

but they do give the 12 month warranty.

Should just state I am not connected in any way to either the seller or the site.

Just checked this is a dutch auction (15 players available) and currently around 50 bids placed.

I bought this model at the auction about six weeks ago for £133. Since then there`s been around ten up for sale every week - they must have a helluva lot of seconds!

It`s a great player though, but not multi-region.

It is a dabs direct auction and prices usually end at around the £80+. And they are second hand to, I`d rather pay £90 for a brand new mutiregion player from Richersounds. Auctions sometimes require the winning bidder to pay postage which could come to an additional £15.

The three items I bought recently were definately not second-hand, they may have been seconds, but so far I can see nothing wrong with any of them. They all came with One Year`s Warranty, were delivered free, and worked straight from the box.

(With Dabs Auction delivery is free for items over £85, and £3.50 below.)

Toshiba 28W93B 28" Widescreen TV - £266 - elsewhere £535
Toshiba SD100E DVD Player - £133 - on one site £270
Toshiba V729B Nicam Deluxe Video - £106 - on one site £195

Total = £1000
Approximate savings = £495

Not top of the range kit, but guess who`s a Happy Teddy?

Hope this helps clear things up.

Rob
