Aye, I paid £60 for my 106 two years ago... It`s tempting, but DL media is still cost prohibitive, and I like the originals rather than pikey knock-offs

DUal layers are about a quid a disc now, roughly what i remember paying for 4x dvd-r a couple of years back. :o

From what i`ve read on forums, bulkpaq, ridisc and verbatim dvd+dl work a treat on flashed x360`s ;)

no doubt that this drive offers more disk compatibility
than the stock 360 drive.

similar situation with the regular xbox, some drives like cd-r some don`t

If you upgrade your 360 DVD firmware to play backups (legal ones!) then this is the drive you want to be burning them on, and use Verbatim discs. The 360 is fussy about media and the 111D gives the most compatible burn.

Good old SVP do the cheapest DL Verbatims I could find at £39.99 for 25.
