For you lucky people with an Aldi near you they are selling an 8 devices (audio and video) in one URC from this Thursday.
Good news - there`s one down the road :-) Bad news - I`m in London Wednesday and Thursday :-(
Is anyone feeling charitable ?
Incidentally, I say "universal" because no URC has ever worked my crappy Goodmans CD player, nor my delightful Encore DVD player (he said, firmly tongue in cheek...)

hi clayts,it`s well worth checking aldi`s now as from past experience they will already have them on sale,it`s funny that they always say from thursday and they always have these items on sale a couple of days early? i`m popping there tomorrow for some essential`s so i will report as soon as i return.

Although they`re supposed to be budget supermarket, they do a surprisingly good tin of beans and sausages, apple juice aint bad either......

Thanks for this top money saving tip. It beats having 5 remote controllers which is what I`ve got now ! My local Aldi store say they are getting stock Thursday Morning. I have seen a picture of it in Aldi and it looks a fairly comprehensive item with plenty of buttons for various functions. A 5 way remote is about £28 in Argos so this one seems damn cheap.
I think I may have to indulge myself and get one.

You can`t buy online at the Aldi website unfortunately.
The brand is that well known electrical manufacturer, ahem, Medion (they did some Medion DVD players a while back - if you look on the back they say "Specially produced for Aldi, PO Box 26, Warwickshire" - sorry : that`s an Aldi in-joke by the way...), but looks the biz.
