I have a Liteon 5005 dvd recorder and for the money it is fine.
So I think I will upgrade to the HDD model and also you get £10.00 voucher if you buy before 6th Nov. Plus 2 year guarantee ` not bad at all.
Has anyone tried this one .is it any good ? TED

Yes Ted I have the 5045 160gb model which is why I posted this
It`s the same as this but with a larger hard drive and its very good.
If you have the 5005 you will love the extra features on this.

Yes Ted and I have used it, works well enough with my camcorder you can edit and burn back to disk. Takes a bit of time but at least you can do it see spec here

P.S. note this is the same but for the 160gb spec

Hi - I have heard that Liteons just have mono TV tuners inside (ie No Nicam Stereo), although will record in 2 channels from external input - is this true?

Hi,

Can you please check if the Lite-On is (or can be made) multi-region and will convert NTSC to PAL? (I have a PAL TV)

Also, does anyone have views as to how this machine compares with the LG rh7500? I had almost decided that I was going for the LG, but this looks good too with a comparable spec (except for DivX) and lower price.

Cheers !!

Bought this beast today with my argos card 6 months intrest free and a free £10 gift voucher i had the chance to sell my good old pannye50 recorder ive had for 3 years.I wanted to go down the +rw +r hdrive route as it gives more flexibility to use the discs on other machines were as ram doesnt.Ive only had it set up tonight and im well impressed with it quality very good menus good picture good sound good still havent got to grips with setting the video+ side out yet ill delve into it tomorrow bought pack of maxell +rw dvds in full size cases too from argos for £4.99 but i think ill be backing up more to -r from hard drive them pass discs about most dvd players now chepies etc will play -r +r +rw anyway so nothing to loose.I like the fact i can record straight away more less instantly with this unit if something comes on tv that catches yer eye like using a pvr i just wish they would make a epg to use it as a pvr too it would be a perfect world .5*****

I bought the Liteon from argos. It writes +r +rw -r -rw.

Very pleased with it so far ( 3 days). But the videoplus is awkward,
haven`t sussed it yet as it did not record when plus code entered, also the
editing on the HDD is basic, you can split and merge videos, titles etc,
and add edit points on the fly, but the chapter lengths of 5 minutes minimum are
too long for serious editing. Also I don`t know if you can add dvd menus on the final disc.

But in favour the picture quality is excellent, transferring camcorder (analog or DV)
is easy, so too for vhs tapes. I have a set top box, video, dvd player all connected to the
Liteon, I am very happy with the unit and would recommend it. esp for £190
