Good Phone Deals??

EmilyHoward (Elite) posted this on Friday, 7th October 2005, 00:42

This time last year this board was awash with killer phone deals, one of which I took up but is now almost at it`s end. It`s been a great deal- happy with 3`s service, and I`ve never gone anywhere near hitting my 600 free minutes or 100 free texts, so the bill has just been £30 a month, but with rebates which will mean the whole year will have cost me all of 50 notes-when I look at how much our home phone bill has dropped (My last NTL calls charge was £1.02!!!) , it`s probably cost us nothing

A cursory glance around, these mega deals don`t seem to be around now- or if they are, they want an 18 month contract and the deals only apply to the first 12 or something similar.

So, anyone know any good deals? I`m ready to send my cancellation letter off to 3 (I`ll just run the phone as a PAYG if no good deals are around) . Not bothered about network, don`t use anything other than for calls or the occasional text

Are you blind or just stupid? It says in bold and big on top of the page

It is NOT for requesting where to find the cheapest deals, only post offers and bargains you have found yourself!

Easy Timechaser! Had a bad night?

I think your best bet is to wait (if you can wait) for a `Clearance` offer to come up on 3 (preferably on the Nokia 6630) on E2Save.... and also keep your eye out on CarPhoneWarehouse (their website seems to be down at the moment so can`t check). There have been several great deals over the last few months - and I bought mine as a clearance and couldn`t be happier.

Edit : If you haven`t got time to wait then the current 6630 offer is not too bad on 12 month contract...works out at £9.16 per month. Great phone tooo!

E2Save 6630

"10 Months £4.99 Line Rental on Talk & Text 600

Your first 3 months will be billed at £15.00* by 3. 3 will then bill you at £30.00 per month for the remainder of your contract.

A further credit of £40.00 will be raised by cheque after 1 month if you do not cancel your contract. This may take up to 60 days to be received by cheque. You will receive a text message and/or e-mail when this credit has been successfully raised

To gain the remainder of your line rental / cash back please send your 4th, 8th and 12th monthly bills within 28 days of receipt to us and we will credit you by cheque with £55.03 each time.

This will save you £250.10 over the 12 month duration of the contract. In effect this means that your average line rental per month over the contract period is £9.16 per month."

If you go through my referal link I will give you half of the referal back (£10 each)... You have to let me know if you use the link so I can give you the money back when it comes....

Thanks mate- just what I was asking for -like I said, these got posted on a regular basis and I just wondered why they weren`t being posted any more (jeesh..some people??).

I just wonder though..as I`m already on a `3` contract which I`m going to cancel (I got it via CPW last year), if I go for another `3` deal, would that not flag up at their end and stop me from getting a new one? I`m not even bothered about a new phone!

Emily... Just for info - I find the RPoints website quite good for keeping track of mobile deals - they have a special section for it. As this is a DVD forum we don`t get too many phone offers coming up here ... unless ReesittMutton is around.

I can`t see that 3 could do anything if you want to stop the CPW contract and start an E2Save (or anyone elses) contract... you are allowed to have more than one phone contract at a time with them anyway! It is normal to change supplier at the end of your contract.... I don`t see any problem at all. In fact I don`t even see a problem if you cancel a CPW contract and start another one with them! I have done it with Orange before now - I change contracts every year.

I wouldn`t have said this is `just` a DVD forum-look at the different boards-most of them have nothing at all to do with DVD`s!!! I`ve been posting on here well over two, maybe three years now and there were always loads of messages on this board (Bargain Buckets) in particular about phone deals

I just phoned 3 and they`ve come up with a couple of decent deals to keep me on a contract, but I`ll take a look around the link you sent me, see if something else catches my eye!!

I went with Phones2udirect. E-mailed them about 10 times before I actually ordered to make sure this deal wasn`t too good to be true.

I got a Nokia 6630 for free on a 12 month contract. Talk and Text 900 (750 mins + 100 texts). Line rental is 40.00/month, but it`s free for 12 months. So basically everything was free. The only catch is, if I don`t send in my invoiced for my cashback within 14days I`m screwed, so I have this noted everywhere! They also had the 18month contract for Talk & Text 600 and 18 months free, but I chose my deal because I need more minutes pe rmonth. It is hard to believe but then again, it was a one day offer. Keep an eye out on their website, you never know.

Dial-a-phone used to have killer deals, now they are all crap, IMO. I still check their website just incase aswell.

////AMG - That`s why I stick to companies I`ve heard of. E2Save is part of CarPhoneWarehouse and is likely to be around long enough to pay your cashback. Also if anything goes wrong with your phone you can take it into any CarPhoneWarehouse and they will lend you a new one until yours is fixed.... Emily - you may wish to consider this - 3 may be offering you a deal if you keep your existing phone - if so find out what happens if it goes wrong.

e2 save as stated 12 months contract

10 months free NOKIA 6630

cashback scheme of course, also you can get a returned phone it pulls your contract down to around half what it should be, you can also get them to refer yourself and you get a chq after 45 days, not much left to pay after all of that,

I took a contract when it was 9 months free, which equated to £90 for the year, they reduced it to £47 when I asked for a clearence phone, (a phone returned to them on a no quibble) then she advised me I could refer myself, all in all a good deal, especially when the phone is a smart phone and you can rig satnav on it for around £70
