Canon MVX35i Mini DV Digital Camcorder @ £266.36???

Not sure about this one, but ebuyer are listing a rather nice camcorder at £466.36, with a £200 cashback direct from canon. This camcorder is listed at over £700 on expansys, dabs, novatech etc, so I am guessing this is a pricing error, but who knows. Anyway some links:

Ebuyers page:
http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?product_uid=92058

Canon specs page:

Canon Cashback page
http://www.canon.co.uk/camcordercashback/

The only thing that worries me is that the T&C on the Canon site that says selected stores only, but the ebuyer site clearly implies that you can get the cashback on their price....

Buy at your own risk! Tom

From the Canon site
`For a limited period only (6th June 2005 - 30th September 2005) we`re giving you the chance to claim up to £200 cash back.

The stylish MVX20i and MVX25i lets you re-live the fun and the uniquely designed MVX35i brings the highest quality video playback with a host of functions to ensure that watching the home movies you`ve created feels like being transported back to the moment itself.`

What it doesn`t mention clearly is that the purchase has to be made before 31st August, but since most of the online stores are selling that for around £700 ebuyers price is still cheapest even without the £200 discount.

I would say there is NO chance of getting the £200 rebate having read the T&C`s.

You have to post the original receipt (no emails/photocopies) and the purchase must be before 31 August 2005.

They just simply won`t give away £200 if you don`t comply with these conditions.

Real shame - I would have jumped at this if I had seen it by August 31st.

Earlier this year I was tempted to buy one of the Canon Digital SLRs. The combination of a keen price at ebuyer and a rebate from Canon looked too good to miss. However I checked with Canon first and it seems that the ebuyer stock was not official UK so the reabate would no be available. I am not certain but I assume that same would apply to places like Pixmania.

On Canon`s site ebuyer are not listed as a participating retailer so you wouldn`t have got the rebate, but as has been said this as far as I could see the cheapest price for this camcorder.

I`ve been through 3 canon cancorders in 3 years - they are terrible build quality, and the indoor image on my last one was awful - never buying canon again.
