Yet more bargain desktops & laptops at Dell

INTRODUCTORY BLURB

Delll have recently increased the amount of money off that they are offering across their range of Dimension desktops and Inspiron notebooks. The increased cashback is available until 30 March. Meanwhile, they also have a free delivery offer running until 29 March. These offers make for some very interesting pricing among some of their mid-higher range desktop & laptop machines.

THE DEALS

(1) Inspiron 1000/510M

Everyone must remember the £399 Inspiron 1000 that was recently (and is still) offered at Dell. Well, as the Inspiron 510M now comes with £100 off, you can get one of these babies for only £422 - only £23 more than the Inspiron 1000. For £23 you get the additional upgrades relative to the Inspiron 1000:

2.2GHz Celeron (256MB cache) => 1.3GHz Celeron M (1MB cache)
266MHz DDR memory => 333MHz DDR memory
30GB hard drive => 40GB hard drive
24x DVD ROM => 24x CDRW/24x DVD ROM combo
14" XGA screen => 15" XGA screen
no wifi => 802.11b intel pro wireless 2100 mini PCI

(2) Dimension 8400

With at least £150 off, the Dimension 8400 desktop is also a decent buy at £449 for the basic model or £657 for a higher specified model. In particular, the higher specified model has upgrades costing £432 included for only an extra £208 relative to the basic model. These upgrades include:

512MB memory => 1024MB memory
CDRW/DVD ROM => DVD RW
17" CRT monitor => 19" TFT monitor

(3) Inspiron 9300

For those of you who demand the best, with £200 off, the Inspiron 9300 is beginning to look like a real bargain considering how much is packed under the bonnet for only £971. For this price, it even includes a 17" widescreen with a whopping 1900 * 1200 resolution. The full specification is as follows:

1.73GHz Pentium 4M, 2MB cache, 533MHz FSB
512MB, 533MHz DDR2 memory
80 GB, 4200 RPM IDE
128MB ATI Radeon X300 PCI-Express x16 graphics
8x DVD +/- RW
17" WUXGA screen (1900*1200)
802.11 b/g Intel Pro Wireless 2200 mini-PCI

There is also a basic spec 9300 with a smaller hard drive, less graphics memory and a lower resolution 17" screen (1440*900) for only £841 - however, to upgrade this to match the higher specified machine would cost you £1071 so your`e saving £100 by buying the higher specified machine instead, if that`s what you want.

RM,

I`m not in the market for a PC (desktop or otherwise) at the moment, but just let me say that your bargain posts are of real value to the site and thanks very much! Keep up the good work mate.
