I was Triumphant- proving that you get want you want if you keep trying!

Cheers Clayts!

For those of you who don`t know Jungle had tarzan collectors edition and fight club dvd`s for £9.99 then they removed them - but denied them ever being there!

Here is the last email I sent to them:

"Dear Customer Sales Representative Manager,

I think this is ridiculus, so far I have had been dealt
with by: Gemma Dalton, Matthew Nicholls, Esther Latham and
Manminder Singh Bahra, all jungle customer service reps.
The problem is they seem ill informed of my correspondence
with other representatives. For example Gemma Dalton wrote:

>"Please can you confirm the date of when you put these
items in your basket and also when you submitted the order".

I have already explained my story many times and it seems
to me that no-one wants to give me a response.

This is the last email I expect to write to you, I will now
give you a history of events and I expect an appropriate
response.

22nd April 2001, around 13:30ish:

Whilst browsing your site saw tarzan special edition and
fight club dvd`s for £9.99inc VAT each in your `Jumbo
sale`. Thought was excellent so placed them in the
`shopping basket` and went to get my credit card. When I
got back they were priced,in the basket, at £19.99 each!
This is no bargain so I did not buy them, consequently I
emailed your customer services advising them that I should
be offered the dvd`s at the price it said on your website.

24th April

Got email back asking a few questions about where I saw the
offer etc. To which I replied with the appropriate info.

The same day I got a response from Matthew Nicholls who had
obviously not seen my previous emails to you, explaining
the dvd`s in question had been removed from the jumbo sale.

I replied, again explaining my problem and asking for the
dvd`s to be offered to me at £9.99

Later that day, I recieved a shocking response from Esther
Latham who indirectly accused me of lying by saying that
the dvd`s were NEVER advertised in the Jungle Jumbo Sale at
£9.99 inc vat.

As you can understand I was very upset by being accused of
lying so I replied to that email explaining that I would
not go to the trouble of sending all these emails if I was
in the wrong. I also explained that I thought I knew
someone who had managed to buy them at the price of 9.99
inc VAT (at the price Esther alleged they were never at!)
so I would find out the relevant info and pass it on, so
that you could offer me the dvd`s at this price you had
them at in the sale.

25th - I did indeed send the relevant info ( the name of
the person, a screen grab of his screen with his order
details of tarzan, fight club at 9.99inc vat etc) proving
Ester wrong on all counts. I was very annoyed as no-one
had approached the topic of offering me the dvd`s at
9.99inc Vat.

26th today - I received an email from Gemma asking me about
my problem to which I have already had to explain too many
times. I received no apology and no ammendment to your
problem.

SO in light of all of the above, I hope we have established:

a, You (Esther) were in the wrong in denying they were in
the Jungle Jumbo Sale, as I proven.
b, I have wrongly been accused of lying
c, I have be severly put out by you, lack of, customer
services.

I hope you will ammend the problem of the Tarzan
Special Edition and Fight Club dvds, by offering them to me
at £9.99inc VAT each and apologize for your inappropriate
responses and your failure to to do your duty as `Customer
Services`

I expect no less than your full understanding and
cooperation,
Regards

Mr C Williams"

Power to the people!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here is the one I just got back:

"Dear Mr Williams,

Thank you for your email of 27/4/01.

After much investigation with our buyers I have determined that for a
brief time only and indeed on 22/4/01 both Tarzan and Fight Club were
available for the special price of £9.99 each, including VAT.

This was a limited batch of stock at this special offer price. As a
result of this the products sold incredibly fast, hence stock possibly
selling out at that cost price before you tried to submitt your order.

If you had submitted the order on 22/4/01 we would have been able to
amend the prices for you to £9.99 if you had contacted us directly and
advised us of the situation.

As a gesture of good will, due to the confusion caused please place an
order for both of these items and confirm by return your order number.

I will then amend the prices of both Fight Club and Tarzan for £9.99
each,including VAT for that order.

Many apologies for the inconvenience you have experienced regarding this
matter.I look forward to your response."

Oh yes!

Well done, Chris - I`m well chuffed for you. You were right to stick to your guns, and hopefully Jungle will have learned something from the shocking, and I mean SHOCKING, way they treated you. Accusing you of lying is tantamount to slander, and thankfully you had the evidence to prove them wrong.

I suspect that you, like my good self, will not be using Jungle again. I find it outrageous that customers have to `gang up` on a retailer to get the service you expect. They have admitted that the silly season prices were a `limited edition` special offer (thank goodness I wasn`t out on the lash, last Saturday night, else I`d have missed them !), which is quite refreshing. For `limited edition` read `mistake` methinks, and they were NOT going to give in to your totally acceptable demands.

I still don`t think this one is over, sadly. I think we`ll be lucky to ever see the Tarzan Collector`s Edition - the excuses `our stockists have run out` springs to mind quite readily.....

As I mentioned on the `Um Bungo` thread, I had five DVDs from this so-called `limited edition` sale (Madonna Music DVD single £1.41, Fight Club £9.99, American Psycho £5.99, Tarzan CE £9.99 and Three Kings £9.99 - all bar Three Kings later went up in price, to £6.49, £19.99, £15.99, £19.99 respectively) and since last Sunday the estimated despatch date has gone further and further backwards. I really thought I wasn`t going to get them.

Last night, however, the only outstanding item was `Tarzan`, so I e-mailed Jungle and suggested they sent me what they`d got, and to charge me extra postage if needs be for the Tarzan disc. They willingly obliged and my `limited edition` prices have, amazingly, been honoured and now despatched.

All I can say to you Chris is well done mate. You didn`t react hysterically - you calmly gathered the evidence and summarised the way you had been treated by Jungle. Congrats, mate - this is a lesson to us all in how to approach retailers that don`t quite come up to scratch.

Have to confess when I got my confirmation e-mail I nearly shat myself too - that 1 and that 9.99 were a bit too close together for my liking !

However, they have only charged the prices quoted in their `limited edition` sale, which is nice

Unfortunately, I had mine sent to my workplace, so I won`t get them until Monday :-(

On the positive side, however, I got my last two £10 DVDs from WHS (Terminator and Lawrence of Arabia) yesterday, so along with my X-Men, I`ve got some serious movie watching ahead of me this weekend - NICE!!!

I hope someone reports these people should be reported to trading standards soon. cos offering something at a low price and then increasing the price at the check out and then refusing to honour the lower price is breaking the law.
