Hmmmm, take a look at the picture of the Lodos tv in todays press and compare it with the Hitachi one on page 897 of the Argos Catalogue.

Other than the colour of the control panel, they look identical, even the controller has all the buttons in exactly the same place.

Pretty disappointing to think that a Hitachi 28 rebranded can be sold for a little as £160.00.

Apparently everything is made in Turkey (Lodos is) and even the Sony is made with the same cheapo components. In which case why pay more?
Incidentally I`ve got the Lodos combi from Sainsbury and its been pretty good.

true that! most of these corporate fat cat companies such as sony , panasonic etc come out with new technology all the time but still use the cheapest components they can, if anyone has ever opened up their applience they will know that most of the parts inside are made by various companies and most circuit boards look cheap unless you go for high end audio stuff from the likes of cyrus , linn, but then you have to pay silly prices

i think that rebranding is common in all goods these days even cars e.g skoda`s being owned by the vw/audi group so sharing engines and most other parts with audi`s and vw`s yet being built in the czek republic so lower production costs

I bought a Lodos x28 on Sunday and have confirmed that it is effectively a Hitachi C28W440N by downloading the Hitachi`s manual and comparing with the Lodos one ;)

As a previous member pointed out, the only differences appear to be a slight layout change to handset, smoked front button cover (actually nicer on the Lodos) and slightly different subset of options available in the firmware.

- The Lodos has a very nice Sound equaliser function with 5 presets, whereas the Hitachi has seperate Bass, Treble settings. The Hitachi has a `Black point` adjustment function to give darker blacks, which the Lodos is missing.

The Lodos has a very useful feature where you can switch the AV2 Scart to In or In/Out for recording - switching to In has completely cleared the ghosting I was getting on my previous TV :)

The Lodos has a full set of screen modes which can be quickly paged through via the remote, is NTSC compatible (very useful to the readers of this Forum) and uses a slightly curved rather than Flat tube. Sound is crisp in both Nicam stereo and mono, although speakers are light on the bass.

I have emailed / talked to the Importers to arrange an extended warantee and can confirm that they have a genuine commitment to their Customers (can`t say that about Goodmans et al :p ) work really long hours and I believe deserve to do well.

This has replaced my Goodmans 28" 280NS which ceremoniously blew its HT transformer with much smoke and noise on Saturday night, so buying the Lodos from Sainsburys on Sunday morning literally saved my Bacon.

The Lodos is superior to the Goodmans in all respects - if its a budget price without the usual loss of quality you`re after then get one of these whilst you can!!!

I hope this was of use to the Group.
