S3000 £135
S5000 £189
S7000 £339

The S5000 price is better than ebay from Hong Kong. Superb camera, superb price.

You have to becareful buying from 7dayshop now as they have recently added this to their `about us` pages:

If your delivery address is outside of Guernsey you may be subject to duties/taxes/charges which may be levied once the package/s reach the delivery destination. Any such charges must be bourne by you. We have no control over these charges and we cannot predict what they might be.

Hi Bob-B, good priced cameras. I posted the S5000 elsewhere about a week ago and was told that customs charges are likely although no-one could conclusively confirm, here

You may already know this..? They are still cheap though.

It`s only a point of view...

Didn`t realise that they were based in Guernsey. Fortunately my battery charger and batteries were only 14.99

Cameras2u have the S5000 for £219 and the S700 for £387 and are UK based.

It`s so easy to be fooled. I`m usually a discerning and astute individual but find it tiresome to read full T&C`s, especially when the website reads... "Free Delivery plus the UK`s Lowest Price!"

I`ve used 7dayshop in the past because on that page, they stated "no further charges occur in the UK". I always thought it suspect as Guernsey is classed as a special territory regarding customs, and makes you liable for vat and duty if your package it stopped. I even have it bookmarked under "7dayshop.com - No VAT" as a reminder in my favourites.

Knowing another shop there for Traction Kiting that I do, I`m always wary of the vat and customs issue over £18, but thought they must have some special arrangement (like just taking orders, but being shipped from the mainland).

If they`ve now changed the T&C`s the something must`ve changed. It`ll make me more wary of using them in future (work the charges out first - roughly add 21% plus the £4 post office admin fee)

Ordered s5000 for 7daysshop about 3 weeks ago, received today. didnt get charged any vat or duty etc. so bargain at this price :D :D :D
but I dont think i will be ordering anything from 7dayshop in future. very poor customer service(replied to my email after 8 days and told me that they had virus in their email system, so they couldnt read my message, FOOOOOO..., my message was still attached with their reply :o :o :o ) and 3 weeks delay was not a worth hassle and also a fear of getting charged. better to buy from pixemania for 205 plus postage(you can also use 10 pound discout voucher)

I think this is what prompted 7dayshop to change their t&c`s:

The following report from accountants Deloittes will be of interest to people who buy film etc from suppliers such as 7dayshop , Play etc:
"Following the attack by Customs on Dollond & Aitchison's provision of contact lenses from Jersey, we have received confirmation that the use of the low value import relief rules is being challenged nationally. The rules exempt packages sent to private individuals from outside the UK from import VAT if they have a value of less than £18. Businesses supplying such goods from Guernsey and Jersey are currently being closely questioned by Customs as to whether orders are split into separate packages and whether the persons running the business originate from the UK

Surely if you`re comparing it to a product from Hong Kong then they charges would cancel out? Customs duty from Hong Kong is just the same as from Guernsey.

Used 7dayshop last week. Ordered on the Tuesday. 7 days later they despatch it (everything was in stock). 6 days later it arrives. For the order of two cheapish items that were both in stock to take a full 13 days to arrive is pretty awful.

Compare this to a couple of iPod skins from lajo.biz I ordered on the same day. The company is based in China, I ordered at 11pm on the Monday, they were despatched at 3am on the Tuesday morning, and arrived on the Thursday.

7dayshop have cheap prices, and the stuff does eventually arrive, but if it`s only a small difference then it is probably worth going elsewhere.

"..the attack by Customs on Dollond & Aitchison?s provision of contact lenses"

So are Customs really proposing to open every packet that might contain contact lenses? They haven`t got the resources to open most of the ones that contain cameras!

I will put in a good word for cameras2u, though - I`ve had excellent service from them, and it does overcome the slight worry about Customs seizing your stuff. Anyone know how Pixmania get round it?
