Medion Divx/DVD player under £50

Triplesod (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Saturday, 1st May 2004, 11:20

Always found Medion stuff to be excellent value for money (particularly their computers) so I`m really interested to find out how this compares to the KISS machines:
Amazon

Wonder if firmware updates are as good/frequent as similar products.

Just ordered one for £46ish (had a £3 voucher).Should be delivered by the middle of next week.Never had a divx player before so will be interesting testing it out.
Searching the web i couldn`t find much info on it except that dixv.com have certified
the player (see http://www.divx.com/hardware/certified/products.php )
Also i am not sure the player can play xvid files....
Anyway will post again once i receive the player

I have been told that it plays xvid no problem.
Hence I just bought myself one too!

Yep you`re correct it plays xvid great.Only drawback i find with the player is fast forward on svcd its very slow only 1-4x.VCD seems to be 1-8x and divx is 1-16x!
Also it seems to have a problem with dvd+rw media(atleast verbatim ones)
Sometimes it will load the discs, other times it spits them out.And finally zoom is either 1.5/2/3
But on divx is only 2x which is too much zoom. And the dvd doesn`t resume the dvd if you power off...
But hey for under 50 quid its a bargain as its 5.1 sound/rgb scart etc etc
