Picked up a Philips DVD 580HC Home Cinema DVD Player with speakers today at Woolworths for £170 .

Some features are as follows:-

DTS/AC3/MPEG2/PCM decoder built in

Playback of DVD, CD/CD-R(W), MP3-CD, (S)VCD

Optical/Coaxial digital audio output

Perfect Still picture and Zoom etc.

DTS playback out of the box yeah??? any idea if this is multiregion or not either?

Not immediately multi region, but hacks available

I am looking for an AV receiver for my xbox and dvd player etc... is there any optical INPUT? I guess there isn`t, and would everyone reccomend a seperate receiver and speaker package to this one? I have found a good receiver and speakers, but most 5.1 speakers cost alot more than this package.... can anyone help me?

go to pc world and have a look at the surround sound systems, see if one matches your preferences, then see if you can buy it cheaper online. Also some pcworld stores have occasional good special offers on surround sound systems.

EDIT: doh should have searched, found the multiregion hack!! any ideas if its got a problem with RCE discs??

Whats the quality of it like btw??
