Anyone have some recommendations of what to get? Currently thinking of "Drunken Master" (shame no commentary), "Magnificent Butcher" etc.

I have most of these and the top 4 would have to be:

Drunken Master,
Drive,
Snake in Eagle`s Shadow (aka Snake`s Fist in Eagle`s Shadow).
Magnificent Butcher.

I would recommend also, "Legend of a Drunken Master", the follow-up to Drunken Master.

Drunken Master & Snake in Eagle`s Shadow are the wrong aspect ratio, HKL even admit this on their website. They are working on Platinum releases of these which will correct this expect them very late this year or 2003.
Drive has had major problems with faults and incompatibility recently. There is a thread here, and I have posted on a number of forums about this along with others. Supposedly the fault is fixed (however do Splash have the corrected disks ?) even so this corrected one does not work on all players. For me works on a Sony 725D but not Sony F21 or PS2 !

I recommend Zu: Warriors of Magic mountain, which has inspired films such as Big trouble in little china, and also Crouching tiger hidden dragon, and many films in Hong Kong. It was the first of its kind in Hong Kong for special effects, where the director employed special effects artists from Hollywood for some scenes.

How do you know about the platinum editions? I`ve had a look at the HKL website and can`t find any info.

there was news some time ago about HKL using the proper aspect ratios for Drunken Master and Snake in Eagle`s Shadow since the US is getting the correct version. We ended up with a cropped frame. :-(
