Chipping of Sony DVD Players

I have a Wharfedale M5 Player at present, but as part of a deal I have got my hands on a Sony DVPNS300 player too. 3 questions for the forum

1)What player am I better keeping, as I`m giving the one I don`t keep to my parents??
2)If I keep the Sony, has anybody had their player chipped, what was their opinion on the whole thing??
and
3)Had anybody had experience of then new Solder Free Mod that dvdchips.co.uk are offering, is a permanent fix, or does it revert back to R2 when ie the player loses power for example??

Thanks to all,

Kris

RE: Wharfedale M5 and Sony HTK215...........Another Question from Kristoff :o)

Thanks Sashenden for the advice,

As I said I`m moving to my own place in 2002, so I all young blokes, I want the best for my money....and the most impressive :o)

I have a total budget of around £1300-£1600 and for that I`ll need a TV(32") and as I already have a Wharfedale M5 DVD Player, just a home cinema kit should finish off the Bachelor Pad nicely!!

Any advice then for TV/Cinema Kits would be much appreciated!!

Wharfedale M5 and Sony HTK215...........Another Question from Kristoff :o)

First of all thanks to all who replied(You were a big help BlazingMonga by the way!!)

I was advised to get an amp,5 speakers, and a subwoofer to allow me to get a 5.1 set-up in my new flat.......

What I`m now wondering is, Is the Sony HTK215 Home Cinema Kit the kind of thing that I am looking for, as it seems as though it fits the bill??
And is it any good, or can anyone recommend anything better?

Thanks all again,

Kris

RE: Wharefadale m5

Well of my limited DVD experience, the player is very good, has 5.1 capabilities multi-region hackable and all for the price of £149.99 from Tescos.............Can`t be bad!!

Wharfedale M5 Player.........Help,Help,Help

Let me start by thanking anyone who replies, as no matter what you say, I could not be more confused that right now!! :o)

I bought a Wharfedale M5 DVD player 4 or 5 months ago and have it my room at home(still live with parents!!).
I am moving to my own flat soon, and I will be buying an outrageously expensive TV and want to have a sound system to match. I know that the Wharfedale has 5.1 capabilities as all the sockets are at the back of the player, but what I am wondering is what do I need to buy in the way of speakers etc to set it up,so I have the full 5.1 system working in my new abode.
In simple, do I need to buy an amp and speaker set, like a home cinema kit or something like that??
As you can see I am totally lost, so all help would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks

Kris

P.S. Help me out, and I may even invite you round for a beer when I`ve got it up and running!! :o) Can`t say fairer than that!!

Cocktails and Dreams

Hi All, I am looking for some information..........well I guess that am in the right place,eh??

I was searching through a list of Tom Cruise Films that have been released on DVD, and to my total dismay, it seems that they have never ever bothered releasing that classic film, Cocktail, on DVD(Is it just me that considers it a classic??)

Does anyone know if it has ever been released??

Much appreciated,

Kris
