RE: Philips 710 + Cinema 7: am I an idiot?

Searching for the code didn`t seem to work either. I tried for a half hour. I guess my only recourse now is to return the remote for another model.

Thanks for your help anyway.

RE: Philips 710 + Cinema 7: am I an idiot?

Thanks for your suggestions but they didn`t work. Looks like I`ll hafta return the remote for a different model. Can anybody suggest one that they know will work with the Philips 710 and will perform the remote hack?

Actually its the URC-7800, and the other code doesn`t work either...

Wierd, huh?

Philips 710 + Cinema 7: am I an idiot?

My problem is admitedly stupid. I`m in the US and I can`t get my Philips 710 to recognize my AllForOne Cinema 7. After you`ve stopped laughing, please read what I`ve done.

Following the instructions, I pressed the DVD/LD button on the remote, releasing it after the blink, then pressed the setup button and held it until the two blinks. I inputted the "0539" code, it flashed twice again, but then nothing. The DVD won`t respond to the remote (the power won`t turn off, etc.), though I`m sure that I`ve followed the instructions of the booklet and this website well enough. Yes, the power was on while I did all this, and just to be sure I tried this with and without a disk.

I want to be able to remote hack the machine but since it won`t even respond to a simple setup, I figure I need some help.

And yes I searched through at least ten pages of the forum and found nothing related to my problem. So is there something wrong with the hardware I`m using, or, as my heading says, am I an idiot?

Thanks in advance for any help.

UPDATE: just to prove that I am not such an idiot I have successfully gotten my television and vcr (both from philips) to recognize the remote using the exact same method above. So what am I missing?
