RE: Hitachi 505 - problems using IronDukes Firmware

Cheers Warren!

Propped up the back of the machine with a few CDs and the disc read perfectly.

Cheers ironduke for the firmware and everyone else for your help.

P.S. perhaps if you add an FAQ section to your site this problem/solution should go in as it is far from obvious

RE: Hitachi 505 - problems using IronDukes Firmware

Could it be a newer version of the machine with the same model no? I heard from a friend this happened with other makes

RE: Hitachi 505 - problems using IronDukes Firmware

I too `used my noodle` and downloaded several versions of the firmware (some the file was called Bank30.rom others were not) I renamed all to Bank30.rom before bunring using EZCD 4 with various options (DAO, TAO etc). by choosing to burn a data disc and then dragging bank30.rom onto the root dir of the cd and leaving the random volume number assigned. I have burnt about 10 times with various options in EZCD but all have the same problem - the drive clicks a couple of times (i think this checks different disc formats as it happens with other discs) then it whirrs up clunks and repeats.

I am going to try burning at a friends this evening and i`ll let you know the results
thanks merf

Hitachi 505 - problems using IronDukes Firmware

Hi,

I bought a hitchi 505 at the weekend (after finding out that it was region/macro freeable from the ironduke site).

I have downloaded various versions of the firmware and burnt them but every time when i insert the disc the machine clunks and clicks for about 30 secs before displaying `no disc`.

This sound like the machine not able to read the disc (the CDRs are good quality and I have burnt audio/MP3 to them and these work fine in the player)

Does the patch need to be burnt in any special way? (disk at once? etc)
is the case of the filename bank30.rom/BANK30.ROM/Bank30.rom important?

Or failing answers to these probs can anyone grab an image of the disc they used to flash their machine (ISO format) and mail this to me?

Cheers
