RE: Scan Firmware Question

I had a go last night...

I downgraded to 1.80 and successfully disabled Macro (following DJ Denon`s Instructions.. Cheers Bud) I upgraded straight to 2.08 and Macro was back, try the hack and failed.

So I downgraded again and again sucessfully disabled Macro, this time I put on 2.04s (I hope) and same problem Macro was back.

I am wondering if Closing the CD when it is written makes a difference ? I only closed the CD on the burn of 1.80.

As a quick side question, My test DVD for Macro is R1 Gladiator. I didn`t have a problem copying it and thought I would due to it being NTSC. I only have a cheap Daewoo VCR, not some multi system VCR. Can Someone give me a quick explaination (or point me to a site) to read up on PAL/NTSC. i.e the differences.

I`m gunna try re-burning the 2.08 and closing the session tonight.

RE: Scan Firmware Question

To me it means macrovision is still enabled

I checked this when I ran my scart through my VCR and a soon as you hit record the macrovision pretection comes to life (This was on R1 Gladiator)

Scan Firmware Question

Nelly/Scan or any other Scan user 2 questions

1) Can you see on a menu if you have firmware rev 204s (as opposed to just 204)

2) I`d like to disable the Macrovision and I don` think I have. I have followed the instructions. But I get the following displayed

ADV7171 00000003 (should it not be 00000000 or 1)?

someone did post the same question but didn`t get a reply..

Maybe nelly can tell me the answer ! Although he didn`t bother answering my email..must be busy

RE: `new` Scan Sc2000

So what has changed on the Machine that all the mags/websites reviewed ? Have they changed the ESS chipset ? If they have what was it originally ?

I`m still confused why such a `bad` player could get so many great reviews ..

e.g. (from Home Entertainment mag)
"Picture quality is impressive. The SC2000 uses the same picture processing microchips as players from top name brands that cost a good deal more. There`s lots of fine detail in the image, colours are crisp and natural looking and there`s no faffing about when it comes to layer change."

`new` Scan Sc2000

I brought a scan sc2000 , before, reading that it differs from the one most mags/site reviewed.
I also read a recent review on this site for the Manhattan (which is a clone) which I where I get confused, `cos it got a good review.

Can someone let me know what the problem with them is,etc, etc and
if there is some test I can do to see if mines dodgy or not.

..and also your advice whether I should `try` and send it back or keep it..

thanx in advance
Damon.
