RE: 32" CRT advice
My Friend,
If you can hang on for a little while longer before buying a budget widescreen tv, there are new CRT`s heading on the UK market with integrated HD Ready, i know sony have one, and samsung are doing the TXR3079WH which is a crt but only 16 inches deep. The advantage of HD CRT tv is the best possible picture from all HD formats with best price, its just doubtfull you`ll see many (to begin with anyway) above 32inch. This is an ideal solution for you as its pretty futureproof and that your not fussed about having a space saving, hang on the wall, flat screen or anything. What you think?
Cheers,
N.
RE: tevion tdr5101
Hello mate,
The other day I saw the ad in the Sun newspaper for the technosonic pvr, being at work I rang the missus and told her to nip to aldi and buy one, she bought the dvd recorder (tdr5101) by mistake, at first I was going to take it straight back, after a day or 2 thought why not?
So today I wired it up, took out my old vcr and old sony dvd and put the tevion in, first off: the damn thing sounded like a vcr when it fired up with a disc, not so bad when playing but when on title screens and pause you could hear the servo motoring away, its not an exaggeration to say my vcr is quieter, secondly it didnt have a patch on my sony picture wise, it distinctly lacked colour and had a slight jumpy picture, not crisp and sharp at all.
The air vents are located rather stupidly on top of it, so its conceivable you might have probs from this in the future.
As for the menu it looked ok and the remote seemed not too bad, but I think all in all its a peice of cheap tacky crap that I would advise you to stay away from pal. Mine is going straight back to Aldi tomorrow.
Cheers,
Nis.
