Help!! Is my S-Video cable faulty??

I received an S-Video cable from Keene Electronics on Friday (19/01/01) and connected it between my AIWA 370 DVD and JVC TV (after changing the TV output setup to `S-Video` on the DVD). When I turn on the DVD and select the AV2 channel on my TV all I get is blue and green lines across the screen, I had tried a friends S-Video cable before hand and that worked without any problems. The only difference between the two cables as far as I can see is the one I have got has GOLD connectors each end, should that make any difference? or do you think I have just been sent a faulty cable and need to get a replacement?.

PIONEER 535 or AIWA 370

I am after some advice on which of these players will be the best buy for my setup. I have a fairly old JVC 21" Mono TV which I think only accepts a PAL50 signal, not sure about NTSC (it does have an S-Video connector though). I will be connecting the DVD player to the TV by a Scart lead and to a Dolby Pro-Logic Video (including speakers) through a standard phono lead. If I opt for the PIONEER will my TV be able to pickup signals OK from R1 disks?. Also which would be the best player to have when I eventually upgrade the television to one that handles PAL60 as well?.

My television is a JVC CM21773-004 Mono sound with one Scart and a S-Video connector on the back. I don`t have the instructions so cannot check if it can handle pure NTSC as well. If it could handle NTSC would the PIONEER 535 play through it OK?.

Try looking on http://aiwaownersnetwork.tripod.com for more details on the AIWA 370 and the current hack, from previous threads I think you will need a converter to loose the macrovision, try looking on http://www.sonel.com for the MAC MASTER at £24.99 that gets rid of the dreaded macrovision, and it will play RCE disks.

HELP - Does my TV use PAL50 or PAL60??

I have recently taken back my Wharfedale 750S and will probably be getting an AIWA 370, can anyone tell me if my current TV set will accept PAL 50 only. I had the 750S set to PAL and got R1 discs in colour, but when I tried to change it to PAL60 or PAL60R the screen flickered like mad so I had to quickly change it back to PAL while still in the setup menu. I presume from that that the TV will only accept PAL50 so that`s why I`m going for the AIWA and not the PIONEER 535 as I think that only uses PAL60.

Any advice would be appreciated.
