Advice on Dvd recorders

Hello there, I am new this forum but have used it before for advice. I am looking for a reasonably cheap but reliable dvd recorder. I will be using it mainly to back up my vhs collection of Formula One races spanning back over 10 years.

I recently purchased a Cyberhome 1600 from ASDA and found it to be untsable and unreliable to record programmes of such length because it overheats about an hour and a half into recording. I returned it and replaced it with another of the same only to find this one wont let me passed the set up page.
Thus im quite irritated by it.

So can anyone recommend a RELIABLE dvd recorder, mainly for vhs back up that can cope with long recordings? and is quite cheap say about £100ish

while im here will the type of discs im using affect the stability of the recording? im using dvd+r`s.

Thanks.
