AS 8099 MP3 playback

My sister has had an AS 8099 DVD for a few months and it plays MP3 tracks. I bought one last week and it doesn`t. Any ideas why, or can it be changed? Any suggestions appreciated.

Your DVD will play in black and white if it`s set to NTSC playback on a PAL TV.
