can anyone help with de-regionalising?

I have two machines: a Sony DVP-S735D (DVD player) and a Philips DVDR880 (DVD recorder) and want to de-regionalise them so I can buy DVDs from abroad, especially America.

Can anyone help with relevant codes/advice to enable me to do this?
