RE: Philips DVDr610 BLOCKED message

I too have the same problem. Was watching film last night and suddenly the machine froze up (I may have accidently hit some button on the remote while changing position in the sofa ;-). I`m now getting "blocked" message. On attempting to eject the film, the display shows "opening" then "closing" and ends up with "blocked" (I can repeat this by pulling power cord to reset the machine and attempting to eject again). It may sometimes go into "reading" mode and then decide there is no disc.

Tried john72`s suggesting of reconnecting power cord while holding standby key. This made the machine go into install mode and I had to wait for the channels to be installed. Once this was done I still had the same problem.

Also tried andyr123`s suggestion holding the open and stop buttons while reconnecting power. That did not solve the problem either. Actually the first time I did this I think it made the DVDR go into this infamous trade mode because it wasn`t responding to buttons on the machien, only on remote.

I guess it`s a hardware problem. Not looking forward to have to return it. It`s only a couple of months old and of course the DVD is still inside.
