RE: sony DAV-SA30 dvd player problem

Sorry it took so long to get back but been off work for a few days!!!!

What you need to do is obviously remove the outer lid (2 screws in each side plus about 6 - 8 screws on the back) then you lift it off carefully... Now you are looking at the inside of you DAV SA30..... The board that contains the small Transformer will need all screws removing 3 from memory, 1 off which holds the cables from the large Transformer one in the centre of the PCB & either 1 or 2 in the corners!!!!!!

You will need to remove the back of the dvd player by removing the Scart Socket, Ariel Connectors, Speaker Sockets & AV Sockets.... Undo all these items first & then you can undo the screws lower down to remove the back panel all together....

On the PCB that the small Transformer is you will see that the PCB also continues 90 degrees downwards with several little black squares attached which seem to dissapear undo some aluminium strip (You need to undo the screws that hold down the aluminium strip) & then you can lift the PCB up to move it about.....

If I was you I`d remove all cables that have a plug/socket connection on that PCB so you can move it more easily (I think there are 3 or 4 plug/socket connectors to remove)...

Once you`ve done all that you can get to the underside to De-Solder the small Transformer (It`s attached by four pins soldered to the board) & then you just Solder the new one in place...... Don`t worry it can only go one way as the pins are different widths apart!!!!

Hope this helps :) I`m afraid though it wasn`t the route of my problems & mine has gone in to have a look at repairing it :(

RE: sony DAV-SA30 dvd player problem

Hi, Seems like I have a similar problem.... Mine had been having bad crackling noises on certain tv stations of which I just put down to poor reception etc anyway I have now got the problem where if I play the tv through the home cinema I get crystal clear sound for about 20 mins & then it starts to crackle before almost totally disappearing & if I put a DVD in I get no sound what so ever through my home cinema or my tv so I decided to crack it open last night :D I had a look at the smaller of the two Transformers & noticed it looked a little yellowy brown on top which made me think maybe it`s had it so I took the seriel No off it & today had a search around for a replacement & at long last I managed to find a place that sells them 8) So if it`s the small transformer behind the scart jack that you are looking for then the Part No is 1-437-730-11 (Which is written on the transforemer) & it costs less than £15 delivered ;) Anyway enough of the rubbish the name of the place is visual impact Tel :- 020 8977 1222 or via the web www.visuals.co.uk Hope this all helps & look forward to hearing if this has been of any use to anyone. Cheers
