RE: Philips DVDr610 BLOCKED message

Good advice about filters but sadly I already follow it, I use surge protected
boxes for all my electronic kit -- HiFi, TV and PC.

Currys haven`t fixed the 610 yet and I`m about to try using this forum discussion
to prove that they`ve had it for over 28 days (they don`t record the date!!).
If they agree I`m going to swap for a Sony GX300, costs more but seems
to have less hassle associated with it!

RE: Philips DVDr610 BLOCKED message

Latest update is that Currys can`t fix it so are sending it back to the
Philips factory for repair or replacement. It could be as long as 28 days!

This is not good news given I`ve only had the thing a couple of months!

:-(

RE: Philips DVDr610 BLOCKED message

Thanks for the suggestions.

I tried turning the power on/off but no joy. I didn`t try holding the button in.
I`ve returned the unit to Currys who tell it me should be a week to fix or
they will give me vouchers.

Any idea why this "dealer lock" suddenly comes on? It was right in the
middle of playing a recording...

Will update when I hear from Currys.

Philips DVDr610 BLOCKED message

I got a DVDR610 at Xmas after confirmation that patch 22 fixed the previous
problems. 4 days later the tray locked (with DVD inside) and the
message BLOCKED came up. I took it back to Currys who replaced
the unit (but I lost the DVD!) Since then it has been fine and I was
pleased with the results and ease of use, but last week the new unit
also locked up with the tray refusing to open and the BLOCKED message.

Is there a known way of resetting the machine? Or even getting the disk
out? I will be taking it back to Currys but I`d rather not lose another DVD.
And if I hadn`t bought the 3 year warranty I`d probably be buying a
new machine too...
