RE: Recommendation on MP3/iPod Player

I`ve decided to go for a Sony NWZ-S639FB from Amazon £84.00 -
These got very good reviews when they were £140 a few months back.
However I am finding it difficult to find a recommended Speaker/Docking system -
Everything seems to be for the Ipod !
Cheers

RE: Recommendation on MP3/iPod Player

" and (correct me if I`m wrong) I-Touch only seems to go up to 32GB " -
Yep AFAIK, The Touch only goes upto 32, I do realise the older models have greater capacity but I`m keener on the touch as for it`s video capabilities etc.
Thanks to all for their input, much appreciated.
I think I`ll look around at prices for the Touch and a decent docking/speaker system.
Cheers.

RE: Recommendation on MP3/iPod Player

Hope you don`t mind me adding a similar question to this one
Am I `constrained` to getting an iPod since I have an Apple Mac Computer as `other` MP3 players will not work as `seamlessly` with the Apple Mac?
I would like to replace our now `defunct` stereo separates with an MP3/4 Player with Docking Station/Speakers.
I was `veering` towards an ITouch as it`s the largest capacity I know of but also need a `system` for our little girls bedroom, possible a `Nano` + speakers/Dock -
It`s not that I desperately want to go down the iPod route but someone suggested I`d have less trouble `synching` between Imac and MP3 player(s).
Cheers

RE: `Washed Up` Mobile Phone

Thanks very much, will give it a go.

RE: `Washed Up` Mobile Phone

Not sure, My wife did it, perhaps an hour or two, anyway,
Thanks for the reply, will give it a go,
Would still like to know if you can port numbers under both the circumstances outlined above.
Cheers.

`Washed Up` Mobile Phone

My current 12 month Orange Mobile phone Talk 120 contract is up 7-April
(Cashback from Mobileshop after 12 month bill)
However my Nokia 3120 phone is now inoperable after a stint in the washing machine.
If I go for another one of these cheap reantal cashback jobs -
Can I port the number across with the phone `out of action`?

We also have lost a PAYG (Orange) Nokia phone which has £15 quid credit on it -
Can I port this number across to another PAYG network?

I expect to win the lottery next week btw.
Cheers
Lucky Ron.

RE: DVD Recorder Required - Budget approx £150.00

Thanks for the offer, As I say a HD recorder would save them `faffing on`.
If I can`t find something suitable I`ll get back to you.
If anyone has any thoughts on the Humax PVR9200t I`d be gratefull to hear.
Cheers.

DVD Recorder Required - Budget approx £150.00

In-Laws have a `normal` Panasonic TV, DVD-A350EB dvd player, and very old Panasonic
Video Recorder, They have a `cheapo` Freeview box from Argos.
The dvd player is now only playing in Black & White and tapes are not playing on the video recorder anymore - So perhaps time for a DVD Recorder.
Preferably easy to use, a Hard Drive would be a huge help if possible for the budget?
Cheers.

LoveFilm - Utterly Abysmal - Decent DVD Rental Company Reccomendations

Having endured months of abysmal levels of service from Lovefilm -
I was mistakely under the misaprehansion I would receive DVD`s for the money they received
I would like recommendations for a decent DVD rental company - preferably one who actually sends you some discs.
Thankyou

Emily: -
My neighbour is about to start a business venture: - Media Training Videos or such.
Basically he'll be taking footage with a crew then editing these at home.
As my post yesterday 'Anti-Virus/Apple Mac Recommendations' explains his current PC is riddled with spy ware and this has steered him towards investing in a 'Power Mac'.

Your experiences in this area would be very interesting to hear.
If you have any Tips Advice - They would be most appreciated.
Cheers.

Anti Virus/Spyware and Apple Recommendations

A neighbours PC running WINXP was so badly infected with spy ware that his friend
Re-formatted his hard-drive and installed Win2000 with Norton Anti-Virus.
This is now so badly infected that it's now unusable.
Norton highlights various problems among them 'Spybot' but does not remove them.

I have tried running PANDA anti-virus that I have on disc but that did not find anything perhaps because we cannot get onto the Internet (via recently installed Bulldog Broadband) to get the Latest definitions.
I am not aware of any Firewall protection on the PC! - Unless the free version of Norton has something included?

So the upshot of this is :-
He has nothing that important on the PC, so is prepared to re-format and install W2000 PRO again.
I would appreciate any advice in trying to prevent the same situation happening again -
Particularly Firewall / Anti-virus software (preferably freeware).

P.S. He is about to start his own business creating Videos to train Media personnel
And is considering getting an Apple-Mac - primarily for Video Editing.
Any advice as to what would be most suitable would also be appreciated.

Thanks Ron

Outdoor (Deck) Lighting - Electrical Advice

Having a 12ft.L x 20ft.W deck built for walk-on access from patio & garage door(s).
We intend doing two things `Electrical`

1) Put 16 Low Voltage IP68 1W led mini-lights around the perimeter & in the steps.
The transformer from the deck-lights supplier is a PLD 1-16 350mA constant supply
(upto 16 luxeon led via 2 series circuits + 8 LED each)
Also intend buying 18(2 spare) mini waterproof `jelly` connectors
which will require `x` amount of CR135 1 x 0.35mm teflon cable

2) Put an outside dbl-gang socket on the external garage wall
(primarily to provide source to Xmas lights at bottom (20ft away) of garden)

I will be getting an electrician to sort this out
Are there any issues I need to be aware of doing this, in particular

Q1) Would it be easier for the Electrician to `put something` down e.g. `conduit` before the deck is built?

Q2) Do I have to buy `their` `dimming` transformer which limits me to 16

Q3)Is it best to house transformer in garage (and cable thru garage)?

Q4) What is best regarding the cable to power the Xmas lights at bottom of garden
(run it under deck?)

Q5) Anything else that needs taken into account?

Cheers.
Ron

RE: Free Orange upgrade

I`ve been on the Orange £25.00 Talk Time 120 since Dec-03 - Nokia 3510i
Since Moving home (no landline) I am usually well over the 120 mins. -
Last bill was £43.13 (including £2.31 PAYG orange phone) additional Minutes used 147 !
So when I ring Orange to get a better deal - do I say I want to know the PAC or PAT number ?
Cheers.
