My +R discs were finalised and the brand was Phillips which I thought would be the best because I believed it was they who pioneered the +R format. I have some Memorex discs which I will try.
I wonder if it is worth the hassle as this is the second make of recorder I have had and now the different disc brands seem unpredictable.
Are +R or +RW better for long term recordings?
I have been told if you are looking to record something to keep `forever` it is better to record onto +R as opposed to +RW becasue of the way the recording is applied to the disc. Is this correct?
The only problem I have is that my LG RC68227 finalised +R discs do not seem to play on other DVD players. The titles appear on the menu but when prompted to play they don`t and the disc freezes. The +RW discs play OK on other players. Any one else encountered this or know the reason why?

I exchanged the unfit for purpose Bush machine with a LG RC68227. All seemed apparently fine (records, edits and plays back fine) except recordings on DVD+R cannot be played back on OTHER DVD players. The discs have been finalised on the LG. When loaded into the player, the menu shows the available titles but will not play them.
Anyone any ideas or come across this problem?

Thanks Seajay for referring to these forum links. Both were very useful and confirmed my thoughts that this machine is not fit for purpose. After three exchanges this year, today I got my money back.

Has anyone any ideas on the following?
1) Edit updates on +R and +RW discs are causing the recorder to freeze. This usually happens when using the `Change Index Picture` and `Edit Chapter` functions. The changes can be made but then when the disc tries to update the recorder just freezes (even if just one update has been made). The on screen message says "....please wait, this may take a few minutes..." but 3 hours later the message is still there. The only way to remove the message and make the recorder useable again is switch off at the mains. But obviously the updates are not made.
2) A second problem is that the recorder does not seem to be able to read some unfinalised +R discs. The message just says "No Disc".
Would particularly like to know if anyone else has the same problemsd with this model.
