RE: bench kh6777 dvd

The solution is in the instuction manual page 18.

1. Press "STOP" button onthe front panel of the DVD player.

2. Then continue pressing the "VIDEO OUT" button on the remoe control until the picture returns.

If this does not work, power down the DVD player then switch back on then try the above again.

RE: LITEON 5004

These recorders have to be connected to your TV by scart as the RF coax connection to the TV is only a pass through. Ensure you then select the AV on you TV to view.

If you have tried this then try another scart or try the 3 phono type leads from the 5004 to the TV and select the appropriate AV.

Liteon 5005 3 Hr, Macrovision and Region Hacks HERE! for Oct 2004 models

Liteon 5005 UK Pal models 3 Hour record, Macrovision removal firmware update and Region free.

I purchased form Argos a Oct 2004 model with firmware 071. I downloaded the latest firmware 076 (Jan 2005) from the Liteon site burnt to CD-RW and updated the 071 firmware to 076. This cured the adding of 26 second every time I set the clock and I am led to believe it adds more disk compatibility. Whatever else it does I don't know!

After reading quite a few forums regarding the 5005 US and UK models I took the plunge to modify the 076 firmware using ULTRAEDIT as below.

Firmware - LNFBE076.DSU from file LNFBE076.DSU.0102.024x.rar

55 53 00 00 00 00 00 02 00 00 00 00 - change to ....... 01
00 00 00 01 00 00 00 03 00 00 00 1B - change to ....... 1F

At 0x47, I have the value 64. This should be....... 65 (adding 1)
At 0xEB, I have the value 6A. This should be....... 6F (adding 5)
At 0xA7, I have the value 15. This should be....... 19 (adding 4)

I used the SEARCH/FIND function to find the first two number strings and the SEARCH/GOTO LINE/PAGE to find the 3 hex code lines. I clicked on the character I wanted to change and over typed the replacing number or capital letter. I carefully double checked at every stage as not to make any mistakes. After making the 5 changes to the code I saved the now patched firmware and using a CD-RW (not CD-R) burnt to disk using NERO labelling the disk NEW. Burn to ISO-9660 Mode 1 (no Joliet, no relaxed items) ensure the finalise option is checked.

I placed the patched firmware disk into the 5005 and it updated the firmware (on top of the none patched 076) and then ejected the disk. I removed the disk and turned off the machine. I powered back up the 5005 and found that I now have the option of 3 Hr LP record and is now macrovision free as I was able to record a retail DVD from another DVD player via scart no problem!

Thanks to bomb_dog and macdav

I wonder if the same will work for the 5006?

To make 5005 region free.
Switch on player without disc in tray
Press SETUP
Highlight EXIT then press 2,9,6,0
Press RIGHT and select REGION FREE and press ENTER
Then press LEFT back to highlight EXIT and press SETUP to finish.
