RE: Philips DVDR610 troubles

ok, opened scart (the one that came with the unit) and just cut the wire for pin 8.
Unit hasn`t switched since i`ve done this. and i did some testing, when i turned on the tv with pin 8 connected, it would kick to dvd for a sec. now with pin 8 cut, no switching.

I just use the tv`s AV button to switch to the dvd player now. don`t think i ever liked that auto-switch anyway.you know when you want to watch the tv but put a dvd in the unit and watch it later and the thing switches over as soon as you hit the eject button.

anyway...all problems gone now.

anyone know if one can push pin 8 back into the scart lead, rather than cut it ?

RE: Philips DVDR610 troubles

one small thing to add, when watching tv, the player seems to swap over more during the ads rather than during a program, this could be just me, but it happened a few times yesterday.

cutting off pin 8 sounds like a good idea, but i don`t link the thought of messing with the scart lead, they are pretty expensive.....though i could try it with the one that came with the unit...
i`ll give it a go and see how it works out....

RE: Philips DVDR610 troubles

I have the dvdr610 upgraded to firmware 22.
setup is Panny TV and DVD recorder only, high quality scart between them.
No timing issues at all. and records perfectly all the time.
Main prob:
While watching TV, it flicks to the dvdr610 for a second and then back to TV.
Sometimes once every two hours, sometimes 4-5 times an hour.. random enough to not have definite symptoms.
i`ll start to write down the channels im on when it happening.
it can happen as soon as i turn on the tv, but not all the time.
its like the tv is getting a pulse from the recorder to say "i`m playing a dvd now..."
and then the tv says "alright i`d better switch to av-x" and then the recorder says "only messin.. i`m not really playin anything"
