RE: Reasonable priced glasses
i originally posted on this thread and bought some specs from glassesdirect !! they were rubbish, i sent them back and after a couple of months received a refund.
since then i have bought my glasses from www.optical4less.com in hong kong, 2 pairs of rimless glasses with coatings delivered for about £60. and i was able to specify the extra width i require (because i have a big head !!) FOC.
i had someone come in my shop with what seemed identical glasses that they had paid £250 for. i would say give em a try... buy 2 pairs and get free delivery, and they can have different prescriptions, so a pair for you and a pair for the missus delivered in about 2 weeks.
they also offer a referal programme to save even mor emoney by recommending friends.
RE: HP 4mp Camera + Memory Card + Photograph Printer £99
got mine and just tried the camera, a bit disapointed.. from pressing the shutter down it took almost 3 seconds to actually take the picture :( so i was going to return it... then i spooted on my receipt that the camera is excluded from the 16 day MBG !!! but the printer isnt, so i could return the printer and get £79.99 back :o meaning the 3 second lag 4Mpix camera stands me at under 20 squid.... i can feel an ebay moment coming on :D

RE: Reasonable priced glasses
I have found this site very useful in the past, and only today have i fealt the need to put in my tenpenneth !!
I believe that the prescription glasses industry have had a good run over the years and has been one of the few remaining industries not to be heavily challenged by the online trader. I too run my own `service` based business, but 5 years ago my industry was thrashed by the supermarket and online traders, i also used the terms `you get no support etc... but in the end we started charging this type of customer for our superior service... and they paid !!!
so i say good luck to glassesdirect, i for one think that the high street shops have been taking advantage for long enough, i agree we should pay a reasonable sum for an eye test which is carried out by a highly trained `doctor` but the rest of the optical store staff are pure sales people who have done the short `eye measuring` coarse.
i checked out the website listed and these people only charge £10 for the extra coatings, my last pair of glasses double in price when the extras were put on giving little change out of £300. I am willing to gamble 60 quid to see if this sort of service will work
