RE: Formatting dvd + rw

Success at last!
I have just updated my Nero 6. The program gave me the option to `erase re-writable disc` and it did!
thanks to everyone for all their help.

RE: Formatting dvd + rw

The contents are now read only and windows won`t let me change that.

RE: Formatting dvd + rw

I did finalise it because my laptop could not read it. Now you are right, it is protected as I cannot erase the information even on my dektop pc which has a dvd writer.
So how do I unprotect it?

RE: Formatting dvd + rw

Thanks for taking the time to reply.
It is a + rw disc, and without finalising it my dvd rom drive in my laptop could not read it. Which doesn`t suprise me. So i finalised it.
My sony rdr gx3 tells me I should have the erase disc option offered if I select the tools menu, but the erase disc option remains dull and unselectable!
Also if I put the disc into my desktop with a + dvd rewritable drive. I can`t format the disc either.
I guess finalising +rw makes them unable to be re used ever again?

RE: Formatting dvd + rw

That is the problem, I am not being offered `the erase disc option`?

RE: Formatting dvd + rw

What I really want to do is record over the previous recording, and I can`t?????

Formatting dvd + rw

Can anyone help?
How do you format a dvd rw+ disc, my sony rdr gx3 won`t give me the option.
I originally formatted the disc in video mode, then after recording I finalised the disc so that I could watch the dvd on my laptop. Now I can`t even format the disc on my desktop let alone the recorder?

RE: Sony rdr gx3 and 16:9 - Help!

We spoke to Sony, and it is as you mention. The recorder cannot read the auto aspect signals from the sky+ box so we have to manually change to and from 16:9 4:3. Bit of a bore but manageable. thanks for the replies.

RE: Sony rdr gx3 and 16:9 - Help!

Thanks for the reply. I have checked that I am looking at programmes which are being broadcast in widescreen. When I connect sky+ direct it is fine. It is just the recorder that isn`t displaying widescreen from the sky+ signal.

Sony rdr gx3 and 16:9 - Help!

We have just bought a sony rdr gx3 dvd recorder but we can`t get it to display widescreen. We have Sky+ connected through the dvd recorder to a Hitachi widescreen TV. Without the dvd in the loop, everything works fine. We have obviously selected 16:9 in the setup menu but that doesn`t help.

Has anyone out there suffered a similar experience?

Which Smart Scart?

Is there any difference in quality between the various makes and types of smart scart? E.g.Macromaster http://www.icos-tech.com/products.html
basic standard smart scart and Pro Gold version?

RE: Macro vision and Sony Rdr gx3

Can anyone tell me if there is any noticeable difference between the standard smart scart and the deluxe version?

Macro vision and Sony Rdr gx3

If i buy the above reorder with region free and RCE? already done on it, will I be able to use a smart scart lead to record, say ppv programs from sky? At £237 delivered is that the best bet for a dvdr around that price?
