Current DVDram drives cannot record TV in real time and as far as I know the discs wont play in standalone DVD players.

Right, so all we have to do now is reverse engineer the firmware for VCDs and everybodys happy....well I would be at least!

The tray problem is a fault but the lines are "normal". Get it replaced with another 3350. You wont regret it.
