I bought the same combi today from Sainsbury`s, and like a fool spent a long time trying to hack it. There was no need. It is multi-region already!
Not sure if all the ones on sale in UK are the same, but mine is already preset to multi-region. Good luck with yours! Captain Bob

This worked for me when none of the others did (1369, left, left, left, right, etc!).
Resetting Region Code
Hit setup.
2) *Go to the Preference tab
3) Type 1, 3, 7, 9
4) Hit the up/down arrow to change the region number (0=multi region)
5) Hit enter
6) Hit setup.
7) Play!
