RE: Naiko N888 Portable DVD Player at Safeways £199

While this player initially might seem like a good idea. Wait till it breaks down and you try to get it repaired. Ho dear...!!!

I went to two different repairers, and neither of them would touch it with a barge pole. Both of them saying, that they could not get the parts for it.

I was so angry. That I went back to safeways to see what they could do.
The manager admitted that they have had this problem before. One previous customer tried with safeways to get it repaired at naiko itself, And ended up sending the whole lot back to the manufacturer. Now you might think that it`s all well and good, if they do this.
But what happens given a reasonable amount of time, say 3 years down the line. and it breaks again.. Who`s to repair it.
You are best off sticking with known brands in this case. You pay slightly more, but you do get piece of mind. Knowing that parts are easily obtainable.

Currys also sell this player, under the matsui brand.

B.T.W I do not have a receipt for this player. Ive lost it, and safeways refuses to take it without a receipt. I am now stuck with a broken portable DVD player, that I cant get repaired and neither can it be exchanged. :(
Unless someone here can help me out.??
