RE: New Upgrade Now there

Rearranged system at home, digibox plugged directly into system via scart. Watching "Return of the Jedi" on RTE1 (Ireland), processed sound through all speakers, with explosions through subwoofer. Well pleased.

RE: tv delay

Only had a quick look at it, there still appears to be a lag. Having said that, I`ve found that it`s not noticible if the TV volume is muted, and even from the mono signal I appear to be getting on the TV, the sound is still much better through the speakers. (Well, this is understandable, processing sound is all the speakers do!!)

I have experienced the lag increasing over time, I saw earlier in the thread that this appears to increase if the volume is adjusted. To me (guessing here) this sounds like a ram problem (i.e system can`t keep up), but I stand to be corrected.

RE: New Upgrade Now there

I have the signal routed through the Nicam stereo VCR, but it doesn`t seem to expand the SkyD signal through the speakers.

It does, however, process a Dolby stereo recorded video tape to Pro-logic (Tried it on Carlito`s Way, did a very good job in a scene with rain).

Must play around with the SkyD anyway, to be honest I`ve tried to do a bit of research on stereo sound, I don`t know if the processors only translate a Dolby recorded stereo signal to Pro-logic, or will they do it on any stereo signal, or even if there is a difference between Dolby & non-Dolby stereo signals. Anyone who has any notion about this might let me know.

Still, I like the system. Anyone who has it should try "Finding Nemo" on DTS setting - excellent fun.

RE: New Upgrade Now there

Downloaded & installed as per instructions, all went fine.

FM radio now playing on all speakers. AUX & TV not being processed through all speakers, however that may just be my set-up (Sky Digital signal received from RF2 outlet, not sure if this transmits in stereo. If it doesn`t, and I don`t actually think it does, system unlikely to try & process a mono signal through all speakers I imagine).

Radio sounds better over speakers though, anyone with the system connected directly to a Digibox might let me know if it processes stereo signal from that through all speakers. I have to change wiring around anyway, might spur me into action!!

RE: Cat 2050 From Lidl

Still no upgrade or response, re-submitted query yesterday.

RE: Cat 2050 From Lidl

No response from cat-sound yet, website hasn`t been updated either. Will give it another bit, then re-submit query.

I hope they can amend the issues I detailed, as I`m very happy with the system otherwise.

RE: Cat 2050 From Lidl

As my German is non-existent, I`m hoping that the Google translation service gave me the correct button to submit, this is a copy of what I hope was sent:

Quote:
Hi, I have a DVA-2050, after I downloaded & applied the 02.04 update the sound from the bass was much improved, I found this was a most worthwhile update.
There are a few other issues, and I was wondering if you are currently looking at these:
1. While CD`s & mp3`s are converted to pro-logic, the stereo sound from my TV is only processed through the centre speaker, and the display does not indicate that it is processing the signal through the pro-logic decoder. Can this be amended to process a stereo signal through all speakers using the pro-logic decoder?
2. A time lag builts up quite quickly when processing signals through both the Aux & TV modes. Can this be improved?

I downloaded & installed the 02.04 upgrade, I must agree with dvd_new_boy, bass seems much stronger.

All in all I`m quite happy with the system, considering the price I got it for. If they can correct these issues, it will be a fabulous system.

Out of interest, anyone know how powerful the speakers are? I bought it in Lidl, and the advert was for 20W satellites & a 35W sub, manual says 60W satellites & 100W subwoofer, website gives different specs also? Not having had a surround sound system before, I have no basis for comparison, but I pushed the volume up to maximum on a DTS version of "Gladiator", loud is not the word!!

RE: Cat 2050 From Lidl

This posted in an earlier forum looking for region hack for CAT HTC-2050 player, in case you didn`t see it:

"Turn the player on
Open the tray
Punch 0815 + regioncode 0
Close the tray

This will make the player multi-region."

Worked fine on a R1 copy of "Legally Blonde". I also tried 0815 + regioncode 1, looks like it locks it into a R1 player, 0815 + regioncode 3 = R3 player, you get the idea. Should in theory get around the RCE lark, as you can make the player region specific.
Incidently, this the 1st surround sound system I have purchased, and I`m well impressed with sound & picture quality, does everything I had hoped it would.
