RE: Karaoke

In the audio setup section there are 2 main areas:

Digital Output

Choices = AC-3DTS/ OR/ LPCM/ OR/ OFF

and
DVD Audio

Choices = CINEMA / OR / KARAOKE

So I assume for Karaoke I take the latter option together with Digital Output to OFF. What do you reckon?

I cannot try it now as the gifts are wrapped up!!

Thanks!

Thanks for that I will have a look at the audio setup as you suggest.
I will feedback on outcome (but I am not hopeful!)

Karaoke

DVD and Karaoke
Please do not laugh! :D

I have a three year old DVD player that is badged `Trend` (But looks identical to the (cyberhome offering) and it has been and still is fully functional - it was £99 when I bought it so not exactly top quality but it serves the purpose so to speak and has a software hack for MR.

Last week my wife suggested getting a Karaoke machine for our 9 year old daughter and I said hang on a mo, got out the DVD player manual and yip sure enough it supported Karaoke and has two controllable microphone inputs at the front.

So a few quid later I have a Karaoke DVD and a pair of microphones. Yesterday evening was the first real opportunity to test while girly was at the school disco - so I set it up.

EEEKKK! - :confused :/ nothing at all. The Karaoke DVD works fine but nothing from the microphones at all. On examining the manual in greater detail it appears that the settings for Karaoke are contained on one of three screens that appear when you press `effects` on the remote control ( Karaoke, 2.1, 5.1) unfortunately my player only displays 2 of the 3 screens shown in the manual and guess which one ain`t showing -------------yip Karaoke! >:(

I would appreciate any advice are there any hacks I can do to this machine (which is probably just a badged standard cheapo) or do I have to admit defeat and buy another. If so what would the forum recommend as suitable bearing in mind it needs the Karaoke feature. I am pretty desperate for a solution because I am clearly running out of time and would like to be able to get sorted for Christmas morning. ;)

Thank you for your patience.
