RE: Marked my new Friends DVD`s with a CD-R pen and now it`s screwed! Why? What do I do?

I think that`s going to work a treat, thank you. I`ve just tried it on a cd (writing on them so they start jumping, and then wiping it off using Vodka!). It no longer jumps, so I think it should work fine with the Friends DVD. Many thanks again. David Law

Marked my new Friends DVD`s with a CD-R pen and now it`s screwed! Why? What do I do?

Hi,

I received the complete Friends DVD`s for Christmas, my other half bought some CD--R marker pens to put the series/episode info (only in very small letters) on the discs (they`re double sided without any major labels) and now 1 episode per disc basically won`t play - jumps, pauses, goes totally grainy and messed up. Could the titles be the reason for that?

If so, is there anything I can do?

Many thanks for any advice you can give.

Deleting a second copy of Windows XP from my computer. How?

Hi,

When I bought my computer I installed windows xp and there was an error which prevented me from making it work. I then installed windows xp again, it now works, but it means I`ve got two copies on the computer - and it asks me which I want to go into when the computer boots up.

Does anyone know how I can get rid of the defunct windows version without messing up the current one? There are also two copies of office on the computer as well, so I could do with getting rid of the useless second one. Thanks for any advice.

Backing up laptop HD with Desktop DVD RW. How?

Hi, I`ve got a laptop with an external cd writer, but my outlook and documents files now exceed 700mb, so I can`t fit them on a disk. Is there any way I can connect my laptop to my desk-top, which has a DVD RW drive, to back it up onto DVD?

Can I connect via USB perhaps? On that point, I use a pocket pc and synchronise it with my laptop using Active Sync. Does anyone know if ActiveSynch works to synchronise a laptop and a desktop?

Thanks

RE: Just bought an NEC 1300a DVDRW but there`s no software with it! What do I do?

Thanks a lot all of you! That really is a great help. By the way, upon the earlier advice I have tried to download dvd shrink - not sure if it worked yet. Should it come down in a zip file that I then extract? That`s what it looks like. I`ve downloaded `mirrors` too. Do you know if there`s any order I should be going with to install it?

RE: Just bought an NEC 1300a DVDRW but there`s no software with it! What do I do?

Great help, thanks so much! Er, excuse me again - what`s an OEM drive??

Actually, I`ve already got Easy CD Creator Standard Version 5.1b on a Freecom CD that I got with an external CD-burner 18 months ago. I`ve installed this on the new computer and it seems capable of burning CD`s but isn`t even giving me the option of burning DVDs. It has a DVD copy button, but doesn`t allow me to access that. Actually, I think it did on one occasion, but then told me that there was no recognisable DVD recorder installed or something!

Secondly, I`ve tried playing DVD movies with the drive using Windows Media Player (not sure of version though), and it told me I didn`t have the necessary DVD decoder to go with it. What does that mean?

Brilliant thanks! Excuse my ignorance, but what does `ripping` mean?

RE: All - In - One - Printers

I also just got the HP 6110 for my home office, and it`s fantastic. Fax`s, Scans, Copies, and prints - even photo quality. I was amazed how good it is. About £250.

Just bought an NEC 1300a DVDRW but there`s no software with it! What do I do?

I bought the drive as part of a new desktop, but it came with no software much to my annoyance. I want to use it to watch movies (maybe make copies), and back up my files. What software would you advise? Obviously don`t want to spend anything more than I have to. Any advice you can give would be much appreciated. Thanks
