Can DVD player in US laptop play DVD`s from(in) the UK??????

I just purchased a dell laptop in the US and it has a dvd player installed. I going to england in a few days and i was shock to find out that dvd`s have different regions

Will my dvd player work in the UK when i rent or buy dvd's there?
