RE: Maxim MX11-21

You probably didn`t need it but the code is 9735 to get to the secret menu. There you can check the parental rating, password and region.

RE: Sony DAVSA30 Home Cinema - Any good?

I read somewhere that this new Sony is actually made by Samsung for them. As you may or may not be aware for some years Samsung have been making Sony`s VHS videos but this is the first sony home cinema system made by samsung. I`m not saying thats a bad thing though.

RE: Crazy for ditching seperates for DAVS550? Westy? Anyone?

The DAVS400 only has composite output unbelievably and gives a rubbish picture because of it. I don`t know what system your neighbour has but it ain`t a DAVS400 if it has s-video out.

RE: Hack for DVD Prism DV302

My mother bought this player and I did the hack for her. I don`t remember any problems. I simply ignored the reference to open/close. Make sure the disc tray is empty though and if need be turn the m/c off and then on and make it the first thing you do. I`m sure you`ll get there in the end. The player is based on the latest budget mediatek chipset like what seems like 100 other players. As far as I know the firmware isn`t dvd+r friendly and has problems recognising and using them but as I use dvd-r its not a problem. On the bright side the mediatek chipset has superb error correction for discs so is ideal for reading copied dvds and does a better job than most jap players.

RE: Cyberhome chdvd 400

I`m not saying there won`t be a macrovision hack but the mediatek chipset this is based on is meant to be less anti-macrovision friendly. The same chipset is used for numerous other budget dvd players too.
